Muhlenberg County Jail Roster
The current Muhlenberg County jail roster is the Bluehorse Jail Management roster for MCDC. It is linked from the official Muhlenberg County Detention Center site and is the main public lookup for people held at the county jail in Greenville. The public roster is free to use. It loads the current-inmate list first, then lets a user filter by first name or last name. The research inspection found a past-inmate tab in the software, but the jail information service returned PastInmatesPublic as off for Muhlenberg County. That means released and older jail inmate records should not be expected through the public roster tab.
Muhlenberg County inmate records also have a custody boundary. The county roster is for the detention center, including pretrial detainees, local sentenced inmates, Class D state prisoners housed locally, parole violators, controlled-intake inmates, and restricted-custody categories reported by Kentucky DOC. Once a person has moved into the state corrections system, the right tool is Kentucky Online Offender Lookup, usually called KOOL. Federal prisoners are searched through the BOP inmate locator, and immigration detention is searched through the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. Kentucky VINE is for notice and status alerts, not a full jail record archive.
The Bluehorse roster page shows the current Muhlenberg County Detention Center roster interface with filter boxes and profile tabs.
The roster screenshot matches the county-specific lookup path: start with current custody, then move to court, state, or federal tools only when the jail roster does not cover the person.
Use the Muhlenberg County Roster
The Muhlenberg County inmate roster is best used as a live custody check. A person who was just arrested may not appear until jail staff finish intake and the roster service publishes the entry. If the person is not listed and the arrest is recent, call the Muhlenberg County Detention Center at (270) 338-2263 before assuming release. For urgent custody questions, the jail phone line is more direct than a records request.
- Open the MCDC Bluehorse current roster and wait for the inmate list to load.
- Enter a first name, last name, or a partial name in the filter boxes. The roster compares those fields to the current list.
- Click the person's name when a match appears. The profile can request demographics, charges, bond, detainer, image, arrest, and court data.
- Compare the jail record with court information if a case number, hearing, or charge status matters. The jail roster may show booking charges before the court record is complete.
For a jail inmate record that is not online, use the custodian that holds the record. Custody, visitation, mail, commissary, and jail-program questions go to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center or Jailer Terry L. Nunley. Sheriff incident reports, sheriff-served warrants, and sheriff open-records routing can go through the Muhlenberg County Sheriff open-records request form. A good request includes the full name, date range, booking number if known, arresting agency, and whether inspection or copies are requested.
Muhlenberg County Roster Fields
The public Muhlenberg County roster has a small current-inmate search panel. It is useful for fast name checks but does not work like a statewide criminal history search. The research also found a past-inmate panel in the Bluehorse interface, but Muhlenberg County does not make that past-inmate feature public through the inspected setting.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text filter | No | Filters the current list by first-name substring. |
| Last Name | Text filter | No | Filters the current list by last-name substring. |
| Inmates tab | Tab or link | No | Default public tab that loads current inmates automatically. |
| Past Inmate tab | Tab or link | Not public | The interface exists, but Muhlenberg County's public setting disables past-inmate access. |
Visible past-inmate fields include first name, last name, permanent ID, state ID, start date, end date, clear, search, and a last-24-hours booking button. Those fields should not be described as a working public archive for Muhlenberg County unless the jail changes its public setting.
Muhlenberg County Inmate Profile
A Muhlenberg County inmate profile can be more detailed than the list view. The roster service exposes separate profile areas for booking information, charges, bonds, detainers, image, and court history when those fields are public for a person. Some fields are blank, suppressed, or not applicable. Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and internal classification values may be blank or redacted in the public response.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| BookNo | A ten-digit booking number. The first four digits can reflect the booking year. |
| JacketNo | An internal permanent or local jacket number. |
| Name fields | First, middle, last, suffix, and full display name. |
| Booking photo | A JPEG image from the roster image service when a photo is public and available. |
| Demographics | Sex, race, height, weight, build, hair, eye, skin, marital status, and citizenship flag. |
| Arrest information | Arrest agency, arrest date, arrest officer, officer badge number when present, and offense date. |
| Charges | Charge code, description, type, degree, disposition, case number, offense date, bond or fine fields, and OTN if present. |
| Bonds and detainers | Bond agency, type, amount, status, and outside holds when the public record contains them. |
| Court | Court name, date, room, and hearing type when returned by the profile service. |
A charge listed on a jail inmate record is not the same thing as a conviction. Jail charges can reflect the arresting agency's booking information, while the court file may later show amended charges, dismissed counts, pleas, sentences, or expungement orders. For that reason, use Muhlenberg County court records after a jail arrest when the next question is about the case rather than custody.
County, State, Federal Custody
Muhlenberg County inmate records split across systems because one jail can hold several legal categories. The Muhlenberg County Detention Center can hold people awaiting first appearance, people serving local time, Class D state prisoners, controlled-intake inmates waiting on state placement, parole violators, and restricted-custody inmates. KOOL can show a sentenced offender whose current location is a county jail or a state supervision office, but KOOL is a state corrections record, not the same thing as the county booking profile.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Use It For |
|---|---|---|
| Current county jail custody | Muhlenberg County Bluehorse roster | Pretrial jail records, local bookings, current profile tabs, and booking photos when available. |
| State sentenced or supervised offender | Kentucky Online Offender Lookup | DOC number, current institution or supervision location, sentence, offense, and status fields. |
| Federal prisoner | Federal BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present and projected release dates that may change. |
| Immigration detention | ICE detainee locator | Current ICE custody or CBP custody held more than 48 hours, searched by A-number or biographical data. |
| Status notification | Kentucky VINE | Custody and criminal-case notification, not a complete records archive. |
Note: No official sheriff, police, or detention center mobile app with a Muhlenberg inmate roster was located in the research.
Muhlenberg County Jail Facility
Muhlenberg County has one local detention facility in the facility map. The public jail identity is the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, operated by the county jailer rather than the sheriff. Kentucky DOC weekly jail reporting also lists a Muhlenberg RCC restricted-custody line, but the public detention website and the roster use the single detention center identity.
Muhlenberg County Detention Center
108 Court Row
Greenville, KY 42345
(270) 338-2263
Appointment-only visitation; call to confirm the correct slot before travel.
The detention center is the custody contact for roster questions, booking status, jail visits, mail, commissary, and bond-posting instructions. The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Office is a separate law-enforcement office and may hold sheriff incident or arrest-report records, but it is not the jailer.
Muhlenberg County Booking Process
A Muhlenberg County booking begins when an arresting agency brings the person to the detention center. Jail intake confirms the legal basis for custody, searches the person and property, creates booking and jacket numbers, takes a booking photo and fingerprints, completes medical and mental-health screening, and assigns housing through classification. The official detention material identifies Comprehensive Correctional Care for continuous medical coverage and Pennyroyal Mental Health for mental-health services.
New roster visibility depends on staff intake and system publication. The public record may include arrest date, book date, charge entries, bond fields, a public image, and location strings such as dorm names or numeric housing codes. Bond and court fields can lag behind intake because those details may depend on first appearance, court orders, or updates from the clerk. If a person was just arrested by Greenville Police, Central City Police, the sheriff, or another local agency, calling the jail may be the fastest confirmation path.
Muhlenberg County Visitation Rules
Visitation at the Muhlenberg County Detention Center is appointment only. A visitor must be on the inmate's approved list, bring valid photo ID, register at the lobby window, and follow staff directions to the correct visit area. Only two adult visitors are allowed per session, and a visitor age 17 or older counts as an adult. Purses, diaper bags, food, drinks, and cell phones must be left outside.

Mail Muhlenberg County Inmates
Muhlenberg County inmate mail uses different addresses for non-legal and legal mail. Friends and family non-legal mail goes to the Highland Heights processing address with the inmate name and inmate ID. Legal mail goes to the detention center's Court Row address. All mail should include the inmate name, inmate ID when required, and a return address. The rules prohibit cash, checks, money orders, stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, gang code, escape plans, threats, obscene material, stickers, colored paper, glitter, glue, marker, crayon, paint, liquids, and many handmade items.
| Mail Type | Address or Rule |
|---|---|
| Friends and family non-legal | Inmate Name - Inmate ID, Muhlenberg County Detention Center, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076. |
| Legal mail | Inmate Name, Muhlenberg County Detention Center, 108 Court Row, Greenville, KY 42345. |

Muhlenberg County Inmate Funds
Commissary and deposit details are tied to custody status. The detention site identifies Western Kentucky Distribution as the commissary vendor and states that personal property is ordered from commissary. Money may be left at the jail lobby window during listed hours, but the extracted hours should be verified with staff before travel. The front-lobby kiosk is available around the clock and accepts cash, debit, or credit cards. Phone and video pricing was not located in the official research, so pricing should be confirmed directly with the jail.
Note: Check the roster or call the jail before sending funds, because release or transfer can change account access.
